It was a tough start for Strathfield Sports Club as the annual Sydney Autumn Badge tennis competition got under way last weekend.

All five teams went down in their opening round fixtures, ensuring there will be plenty to work on and some tough match-ups throughout the season.

Many players are playing up a division following last season’s successes and with a couple of teams losing by three games or less it shows every point will count!

Here are the Round 1 results from the 2017 Saturday Men’s Autumn Badge:

Men’s 1.2: Strathfield 2 4-34 def. by Tennis Valley Men’s 4-37

Men’s 2.2: Strathfield 3 2-26 def. by Killara 5 6-43

Men’s 2.3: Strathfield 4 4-36 def. by Sydney University LTC 6 4-38

Men’s 2.5: Strathfield 5 2-31 def. by HHLTC 6-45

Men’s 3.1: Strathfield 6 3-31 def. by Manly Men 8 5-41

The Men’s Premier League competition commences this weekend, with our Strathfield 1 team hosting The Neutral Bay Club 1 from 2.50pm.

Good luck to all players that will be representing SSC this weekend – may the odds ever be in your favour!

In intra-club tennis news our popular SSC Round Robin Championship recently concluded with Sudeep Gurung winning Division 1 and Henry Xi taking out Division 2.

Approximately 20 SSC tennis members were involved, with Henry also taking out the “Baker’s Award” for dishing out the most bagels throughout the competition!
