Strathfield Sports Club is proud to report on the recent exploits of two of our prodigious young tennis members, Tammy Lee and Jaewoo Choi.

The pair, who are sponsored by SSC and coached exclusively at the club, have registered some impressive results on the local junior circuit.

Tammy, who is just 10-years-old, is currently ranked 920th in Australia for singles. She is 11th for her age in the country, and seventh in NSW.

Here are Tammy’s results from a few of the recent tournaments she’s competed in:

  • 2018 ANZ Newcastle Junior Gold JT – Round of 16
  • 2018 Gosford Silver JT – Quarter Finalist
  • 2018 Nepean Summer Junior Open – Round of 16
  • 2017 Bathurst Summer JT – Round of 16
  • 2017 Shoalhaven Junior Championships – Quarter Finalist
  • 2017 Newcastle Topspin Tennis Bronze JT – Quarter Finalist

Tammy also competes on Saturday mornings at the Meadowbank Midwest competition and backs up in the afternoon at the Tennis Australia Sydney Tennis League run at Sydney Olympic Park.

This is an invite only competition where she competes in the 12 and under girls division, where only the top eight girls in Sydney are invited to play.

Clearly the hard work Tammy has been putting on the practise court with coach Shaun Max is paying off and we look forward to following her progress over the next few years.

Another rising star in the men’s ranks is 17-year-old Jaewoo Choi, who is coached by Jaden InHwa Song.

Jaewoo is currently ranked 370th in the county and has a career best ranking of 347.

He recently competed at this year’s Combined Independent Schools competition where he placed ninth.

Jaewoo will continue to play on the Junior 18’s and Amateur circuit this season and will also compete in ITF junior tournaments. Here are a few of his recent results:
