This weekend at SSC:
There’s a plethora of sport on this weekend and SSC has all your viewing needs covered as we serve up all the action from home and abroad.
Australia takes on Sri Lanka in the first ODI of the summer today, as they look to carry on their success in Test series. The Aussies are fielding three debutants at the top of the order with Aaron Finch, Phillip Hughes and Usman Khawaja all set to make their first appearance in the green and gold.
This will be followed by the T20 Big Bash, with the Adelaide Strikers playing the Perth Scorchers for a place in the final. After both sides got off too sluggish starts this season, only a win will do as they aim to join the two Melbourne sides in the finals.
Simulcast at the Club, Adelaide will be taking on Perth in another format with what’s been dubbed the “desert derby” kicking off another round of A-League action.
Later in the night we’ll cross to England for the early game in the EPL, as QPR continue their bid to avoid relegation when they host the high flying Tottenham. The match will be the first time Harry Rednapp has come up against his former chargers and he will be desperate to get one over his former employers, who showed him the door despite Spurs fourth-place finish last term.
The action continues on Saturday with Hobart taking on Brisbane in the BBL. This could be one of the final games of the Ricky Ponting farewell tour but he will hope this is not the case. Leading the side with George Bailey on national duties, he will be hoping to carry on his good domestic form and book the Hurricanes a place in the finals.
This will be matched by a double-header in the A-League where it is sure to rain goals galore. The in-form Victory host the table-topping Mariners in what shapes as one of the games of the season. This will be followed by the Jets taking on the Roar, with both sides desperate for three points to get their seasons back on track.
Sunday will see a Sydney double in domestic football action, with surprise packets Wanderers flying to Wellington to take on the Phoenix, while pride will go on the line when the Sky Blues take on Melbourne Heart.
We’ll also have all the cricket action from the second ODI between Australia and Sri Lanka, with both sides having players who will be keen to impress ahead of the 2015 World Cup.
Later that night we’ll again cross to England for arguably the biggest rivalry in English football when Manchester United hosts Liverpool at Old Trafford. Both sides will be desperate to get one over their bitter rivals, in this season defining match-up. SSC is tipping a Stevie G bomb in injury time to win it but come down to the Club and witness it for yourselves!
