Get your calendars out and mark down March 4, because on that day in 2013 sports lovers all around the world will be breaking out their rackets and heading down to the tennis courts for the first ever World Tennis Day!
The idea is a new initiative from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and StarGames, aimed at encouraging more people to get enthusiastic about the game.
ITF president Francesco Ricci Bitti made the announcement at Davis Cup Final earlier this month, where he explained that World Tennis Day will serve as an opportunity to put the spotlight on tennis participation.
"We look forward to events around the world over the next few years, and to see our 210 member national associations get behind World Tennis Day with activities in their own countries on that day," said Mr Ricci Bitti.
A whole host of countries have pledged to get behind World Tennis Day, including Spain, Brazil, Hong Kong, Mexico, Norway and South Africa, and hopefully Australia shows support for the idea as well.
In order to commemorate the occasion, some of the biggest names in tennis will be turning out to compete and thrill their legions of adoring fans.
Li Na and Caroline Wozniacki will play off in a special exhibition at the AsiaWorld-Arena in Hong Kong, while Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka, Rafael Nadal and Juan Martin del Potro will all be in action at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
If you want to start your training for International World Tennis Day, come on down to Strathfield Sports Club Sydney and join in on the action!
