With five games under their belt, Chelsea are still sitting pretty at the top of the Barclays Premier League table and are yet to lose a game this season.

In their most recent outing the Blues managed to sneak out a 1 – 0 victory against Stoke City at Stamford Bridge, with Ashley Cole scoring the only game of the match in the 84th minute.

That takes their record to 4 – 1 – 0, having also registered victories against Wigan, Reading and Newcastle, as well as a scoreless draw against QPR this season.

One point behind and looking ominous is Manchester City, who have recovered after losing their opening game against Everton to win their next four League games straight.

The last of those victories came against Liverpool in a thrilling encounter at Anfield earlier this week (September 24, local time).

After a hard fought first half, in which Jonjo Shelvey was red carded for a dangerous tackle on Jonathan Evans, both teams went into the break yet to score.

Liverpool came out battling however, opening their account just 43 seconds into the second half when Steven Gerrard scored from deep inside the penalty box.

That lead didn't last for long, as Rafael De Silva found the net in the 50th minute to level the scores. More tight soccer followed, but in the end it was Robin van Persie who was able to secure the match for his team, drilling home a spot-kick late in the game.

Man City were able to defend their one goal lead as the clock ran out, taking a critical away victory which will add to Liverpool's misery – the Reds are yet to win a game this season.

Everton and East Bromwich round out the top four teams, both with records of 3 – 1 – 1, while Arsenal have dropped into fifth after they could only manage a draw against Man City earlier this week.
