Serbian tennis superstar Novak Djokovic has added another trophy to his already impressive collection, having defeated Roger Federer to win the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London earlier this week.

More than 263,000 people turned out at the O2 Arena to watch this much hyped match between two of the greatest ever tennis players in person, which lasted two hours and 15 minutes.

Federer, seeking his seventh ATP World Tour Final victory, fought hard in the first set and took the early advantage.

But Djokovic refused to lie down and came back to take his long time on court rival to a tiebreaker, before eventually winning the set 7-6(6).

It was a similar situation in the second set where Federer took off to an early lead after several unforced errors from Djokovic.

But this was to be Novak's day, and the world number one wrestled back the ascendency once again to tie the set and eventually win it 7-5.

"I didn't know in which direction the match would really go, but I tried to convince myself that I would make a turnaround and I will fight," said Djokovic afterwards.

"I managed to deliver my best game when it was needed the most."

The victory marks Djokovic's second ATP World Tour Final title, after he previously won a one sided affair against Nikolay Davydenko in 2008.

It also caps off a spectacular season in which the 25-year-old first won the 2012 Australian Open in January before going on to claim the Sony Ericsson Open, the Rogers Cup and the Shanghai Rolex Masters.

Federer – who also claimed a Masters title this year at Wimbledon – can hold his head high however, and took home the ATPWorldTour.com Fans’ Favourite and Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Awards as consolation.
